Job Description
As a Trainee Robotics Engineer at SMCCL, you will join a team dedicated to advancing smart city technologies. You will work on groundbreaking projects involving autonomous vehicles, drones, and robotics for sectors such as autonomous transport, smart healthcare, and automated delivery services. You will participate in testing, development, and deployment of innovative robotics solutions designed to meet real-world challenges in a city setting. You will also study for a BEng (Hons) in Robotics Engineering, in partnership with MK:U (Cranfield University). Your learning will be delivered through a mixture of virtual and on-campus study, ensuring you gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the development and testing of robotic systems for urban applications, such as transport, delivery and maintenance tasks.
Support the integration of robotics with 5G and IoT technologies to enhance connectivity and control.
Contribute to field testing and troubleshooting of autonomous vehicle, drone and robotics solutions.
Collaborate with engineers, designers, city planners and service users to optimize robotic functionality within smart city projects.
Requirements:
Interest in robotics, autonomous vehicles, or smart city technology.
Basic knowledge of programming languages such as Python or C++ is beneficial.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
96 UCAS points (three Cs at A level) or equivalent professional experience (2-3 years)
